What is transit insurance?
Transit insurance provides essential cover for businesses and individuals transporting goods by road, rail, sea or air. It offers financial protection for damaged or missing goods under certain circumstances.
Why do I need transit insurance?
Although every care should be taken by removals/ transport shipping companies during transportation, handling and storage of your goods, there may be occasions when shipments are damaged or lost. Although the removal /transport/ shipping company may be required to compensate you for some loss or damage, there are many circumstances in which they are not. Due to the logistics and long distances involved, transit insurance is recommended for all goods in transit.

How much cover can I have for goods in transit?
You will be asked to declare the value of your goods and cover will be advised accordingly.
What happens if I under-value a shipment?
The value of a shipment declared for insurance must reflect the true value of the goods. If a loss occurs and the amount declared is found to be less than the true value, the claim settlement may be pro-rated to a lesser amount. (View our helpful valuation guide for household moves).
Can I arrange for insurance for my goods in storage?
Yes, insurance can be arranged for goods in professionally-run and secure storage facilities for a maximum of 6 months.
